Due to an increased demand for a full size 34 string harp at a very competitive price, I introduced the ” New Antwerp ” model , named after my native city in Belgium .

The re-designed harmonic curve gives added power to the bass strings and the new internal strutting of the soundboard distributes the sound evenly throughout the full range of notes. The sound box is also increased at the lower end , adding to the resonance and volume. For being the best value on offer it is a mighty harp!

This new harp not only has the full range from 5th octave C to in Alto A as is required for students and teachers alike in pursuing grades but is also has a very good and strong sound as it combines all the skills acquired in over 600 harps and 40 years of experience. The price is very favourable when compared to foreign imports; after sales, service and quality are guaranteed.

As on all my harps the string starts on the soundboard through a rosewood or ebony “washer” which I make myself. The grain in the washer runs across the bridge strip so the string won’t cut into the wood and muffle the sound. This part is mostly done on other harps with metal or plastic washers that can affect the sound badly.

I made this harp in 1986 and it was in for a refit . In great condition after 40 years and well-minded. I used to call these harps "student model", but don’t use that name any more. Both the name "student model" and the configuration at the head of the harp are now being widely used on Irish harps.

I never use plastic or metal rings as they interfere with the clarity and resonance. This harp was stained dark at the client’s request at the time.
